Transnasal endoscopic marsupialization of nasopalatine duct cysts: A novel ‘Mickey Mouse’ sign and a septum-sparing surgical technique to reduce paresthesia risk

چکیده
A nasopalatine duct cyst (NPDC) is the most common type of non-odontogenic in maxillary region and oral cavity. Recently, a novel transnasal endoscopic approach has been described to allow marsupialization NPDCs, with good outcomes. However, one complication appears be paresthesia palate around upper incisors, which thought occur due damage nerve following septal incision. In this case report, we introduce variant technique that attempts minimize by adopting septum-sparing flap. We report no complications, including paresthesia, at 3-month follow-up. also ‘Mickey Mouse’ sign on MRI imaging associated NPDC.

Bilateral Endoscopic Endonasal Marsupialization of Nasopalatine Duct Cyst
Nasopalatine duct cysts are the most common non-odontogenic cysts in the maxilla, and are conventionally treated through a sublabial or palatine approach. Recently, the endoscopic approach has been used, but experience is extremely limited. We treated a 29-year-old male with nasopalatine duct cyst by endoscopic marsupialization, but paresthesia of the incisor region occurred after surgery. This...

متن کاملRare Bilateral Nasopalatine Duct Cysts: A Case Report
The nasopalatine duct cyst (NPDC) is the most common of the non-odontogenic cyst of the jaws. This cysts are usually central or unilateral with no prevalence of side occurrence. The NPDC is the most frequent developmental, nonodontogenic cyst of the jaws. This cyst originates from epithelial remnants from the nasopalatine duct. The cells could be activated spontaneously during life, or are even...
متن کاملA novel surgical approach to impacted mandibular third molars to reduce the risk of paresthesia: a case series.
PURPOSE Extraction of impacted mandibular third molars (M3s) may cause temporary or permanent neurosensorial disturbances of the inferior alveolar nerve (IAN). Although the incidence of this complication is low, a great range of variability has been reported in the literature. Several methods to reduce or eliminate this complication have been proposed, such as orthodontic-assisted extraction, e...
